Samuel Maruszewski
I am a philosopher and cultural theorist, currently pursuing a PhD at the Doctoral College of Philosophy at the University of Wrocław. I graduated in philosophy and cultural studies from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
My doctoral project is focused on embodied self-experience, analyzed from the perspective of Ernst Cassirer’s cultural phenomenology. I am concerned with the immediate, everyday pre-narrative feeling of being and having a self, for which not the role of reflective intellect, but pre-reflective, bodily-coloured primary phenomenal consciousness plays the major role.
I am also interested in the role that the humanities play in today’s world in elucidating, helping us to understand and to transform our experience.
My research interests include psychopathology, audiovisual culture, geopolitics, and cinema.
